http://videos.howstuffworks.com/hsw/17676-the-executive-branch-the-executive-branch-video.htm

This video is about the process of the constitution and the people we elect to enforce laws. We no longer have kings and queens, we have presidents who we elect. The president has no more power than anyone else, and we the people control the government. Many people believe that we have the best government, because no one has the most power. The executive branch may include the president, be he has the same amount of input as everyone else. We have a system of checks in balances. This system makes sure every branch is doing their job. Everyone corrects everyone, so that there are no mistakes made.

Judicial branch

Judge up for retention named Ill. chief justice
3:27 p.m. CDT, September 16, 2010

This is a newspaper article about the election process of the judicial branch. Judges run for positions and hope to be chosen. This article is about Thomas Kilbride campaign for the position of chief justice.

In my opinion, judges should not be treated as a candidate. The best person should win, based on experience. A judges job is to enforce laws. They should be fair and not biased. Many times, people focus on the negative things that others have done, such as is in this article. I believe that the good should outweigh the bad. If everyone focuses on the good, the bad would not be that noticeable. As long as Kilbride is able the enforce laws properly and not biased, he deserves a chance in this position.

This article is about Barack Obama stepping up and finishing his presidential duties. It is also about Barack Obama appealing to republicans.

This relates to the executive branch, because it talks about presidential duties. In this case, Obama is trying to step up and improve the economy. Also, he is trying to inform everyone that they have to be aware of what is going on.President Obama is trying to appeal to all political parties and is trying to pass a health care bill. In order to pass a bill, he needs support. Some people said in this article, that he is finally stepping up, but I believe that he has always been stepping up. He can't fix everything right away. BUSH and former presidents(let me reiterate BUSH) has messed up this country enough and it will need a lot of fixing up for improvement. Obama is doing his best and is handling problems one step at a time.

Political Cartoon
http://www.cartoonistgroup.com/store/add.php?iid=38328

This cartoon is about the process that it takes for a bill to become a law. It is accusing the whole process as being "fake". It is saying that the government is full of liars. The voters lie about their situation, which causes the legislative branch to make useless laws and causes the executive branch pass useless laws.

I believe that most of the government's laws are useful, but out of priority. Instead of them passing all of these gun laws and health care packages, they should be worried about getting our country out of debt, taking home the troops, and avoiding bills dealing with spending money. The health care package is a good idea, but other things are more important at this time. The government is corrupt and has its dirty ways and that needs to change. There are people agreeing with others because they voted for them or because they are a republican or democrat. This needs to change. People need to stop thinking about what is best for them and consider others. This cartoon is correct in some ways.I believe our government needs to stand up.

Drama with the law

Huckabee backs Palin's Senate pick.August9 2010
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/40829.html

This story is about Sarah Palin backing Huckabee for his senator position and vice versa. A lot of times, people in politics concern themselves with things that are not important. In this story, Palin backs Huckabee because he backed her. This was not a smart decision. This looks dumb on Palin's behalf. she switched her campaign vote for this reason and stopped funding Murkowski. This has to do with the legislative branch because it is dealing with the senate election. There is a lot of work a person has to do to become a senate. Many people vote because of biased reasons. These positions should be chosen based on their skill level and promises, not by who they support.

What consists of the legislative branch

Ourcourts.org Legislative Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjZbDRxlVLs

This video is a simple walk through of the legislative branch and what it entails. The Legislative branch is made up of a congress, house, and senate. There are 435 house members and 100 members of the senate. Each part has a separate job. The house makes laws and the senate passes them.

I believe that the legislative branch is the most important branch of the government. This is where bills start and sometimes where they end. They come up with the laws that are best for community and decide on them, then sends it to the president. The process of making and voting on bills is very intensive. Many people have different opinions and everyone tries to get theirs heard.

The fifth Amendment

http://www.nysun.com/national/reporter-invokes-fifth-amendment-then-is/82622/
Reporter Invokes Fifth Amendment, then is celebrated by the judge

Fifth Amendment-"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

This article is about a man going to court, doing something wrong, and then the judge approves of it. Many times, the government condones things that are against the constitution. This is a horrible situation, because the amendment was broken with no reparation. The fifth amendment is fair, except for the part about being trialed twice and sometimes when the government takes property. If a person finds new evidence on a closed case, it is not legal for them to have another trial to convict a person. This is wrong . There are many stories about people doing further research on topics and finding out that the person who got away is wrong. Also taking property is wrong. It is different when a person can not pay their loans and when property is taken from people for the use of the government. This happens many times and this is not just.
